Cabinet Painting in Pittsburgh That Looks Factory-Applied, Not Hand-Painted
Kitchen cabinet painting in Pittsburgh offers a way to completely refresh your space for a fraction of replacement cost. New cabinets can run $15,000-$50,000 or more. Professional cabinet refinishing typically costs 20-30% of that while delivering results that look brand new.
House Hues has been providing expert cabinet refinishing in Pittsburgh PA since 2019. We work throughout Fox Chapel, Sewickley, Mt. Lebanon, and across the metro area with homeowners who want their kitchens and bathrooms to look exceptional without the disruption and expense of a full remodel.

I’m not sure where to start…. 5 stars for quality of work… 5 stars for quality of workers… 5 stars for responsiveness, accuracy of timing, reliability. House Hues is the only company I will ever call for our painting needs. We had the whole interior of our home prepped (including a smoothing out of some very ‘90s textured walls) and painted. The walls look brand new, the lines are perfect, the cabinets are smooth and brand new looking. I can’t say enough good things about David, his crew, their work and work ethic. Thank you for a great experience, House Hues.Posted on David LittmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. David and his team exceeded our expectations! They are very professional and take great pride in their work. The job was finished to complete satisfaction. They communicated with us each day, let themselves in and out. Always cleaned up after themselves. We will definitely use them for our next project. We recommend them without hesitation. Can’t wait to work with them again!Posted on Gary SchurmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was absolute best experience ever in getting some work done at my house. Not only was the job fantastic, they are some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. Total respect for my house, my time and even my dog! Highly recommend them,Posted on Ron DeemsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have used David and his team for two projects. The first project was to paint the exterior of our home about two years later we loved David so much that we used him to paint the interior of a new home that we purchased. I truly can’t say enough good things about David And his whole operation. David is respectful, timely, thoughtful in his approach and very trustworthy. I would highly recommend David and his services to anyone looking to have a beautiful job and a wonderful experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!Posted on Alicia CahallTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My experience with David and the House Hues crew has been nothing short of amazing. After 2 years of searching for a new home, we finally and somewhat unexpectedly went under contract on a house with a 45 day window for closing. Having casually seen advertisements for House Hues on Facebook and Instagram, I reached out to David to inquire about their services for my relatively short timeline (We needed to start the day after closing and be done within a month). We painted EVERYTHING. Windows, Walls, Ceilings, Beams, Trim, Doors, Kitchen Cabinetry and Built-ins. There was much work to be done...30 years of repeat amateur/DIY paint jobs, trim that was overpainted with incorrect materials, gapped and warped molding, dingy and damaged factory finished cabinetry. We elected to go with David and House Hues because of his experience with finishing cabinetry. I must admit, after negative experiences with other contractors painting cabinetry in the past, I was leery. In retrospect my apprehension was unfounded. Here is why: 1.) THE CREW: The crew is simply delightful. The House Hues website did not lie.... they are actual artisans... potters, crafters, painters. They are friendly and easygoing. You would never feel uncomfortable with having this crew working in your occupied home...around your children. They are respectful of your property and family. 2.) THE MATERIALS: David KNOWS his materials. He knows how colors will develop on a wall, he knows how finishes will flatten or shine, he knows what is the best and necessary product for your desired result. I had some preconceived notions about what I wanted for glosses and finishes and products. I am an amateur. I was wrong. David made the right choices for our project. Let him take the wheel. When you meet him you will see he has a certain nerdy neuroticism about painting materials, and that trait translates to a beautiful finished product. (Do yourself a favor and take his recommendation to venture down to Ace Fine Paints and Unfinished Furniture for help with colors!). 3.) THE COMPLETION: While I can't make promises for your project, I feel as if my project was rather intrepid. 2700 sq feet of absolute everything house painting done in 3.5 weeks. Bare wood trim, wood paned windows, cabinetry.... all completed in a brutally short timeline. While other housepainters will leave you with splatter, drips and overspray, House Hues will exit your home and leave little evidence they were ever there (other than a fab fresh paint job). The attached photos speak for themselves. The cabinetry work is probably better than factory quality in my opinion. 4.) THE BUSINESS ETHIC: I am an utterly annoying client. I ask too many questions, change my mind too many times, add and subtract projects with the turn of the wind. David and Crew were always patient and kind about my indecisiveness and incessant nonsensical text messages. House Hues was responsive to all of my inquiries, including providing a timely quote, and worked well with the other contractors / installers on site during the time of my project. I can't say enough about how excited I am about my new home, and the work House Hues did here is a major part of that excitement. They've only left here a month ago and I'm already scheming up more projects to invite them back to (exterior, painting furniture, lol). If you are on the fence, take the leap, reach out to David, you will NOT be disappointed.Posted on Joe MartiniTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. House Hues did refinish painting on our Kitchen Cabinets (Jan 2022). Cabinets we’re finished with chalk paint and wax finish that was turning yellow. Dave and Ben completed refinish and the cabinets are now White and kitchen is nice and bright. House Hues completed all work that we agreed to and went above and beyond with finish work. Highly recommend if you are looking for kitchen redo or any painting projects. Will definitely be using again for future projects.Posted on Jennifer EnglerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. David was recommended by a neighbor of ours and we were thrilled with his work on our kitchen cabinets. He was incredibly friendly and professional, walked us through the entire process, helped us pick the right color and completed everything quickly and efficiently. I would recommend his business to anyone. We are thrilled with our kitchen cabinets!Posted on Jeff StackhouseTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had our entire first and second floors painted by David and his crew. This included all our doors, ceilings, trim, baseboards, window sills and moldings. The work completed was excellent. They protected all our flooring, carpeting, stairs and furniture while they completed their work. We were communicated with several times before and during the job, and kept fully aware of what was going to be done. Members of the painting team, were very cordial, polite, and accommodating during the job. Giving us plenty of time to stay out of their way while they worked. Highly recommended.Posted on Brittani NameyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. David was awesome to work with and very meticulous with his work. He is professional and completed our job, working above and beyond because we had a deadline. He painted our kitchen cabinets and they are beautiful! We would definitely recommend using him for any project.
Kitchen Cabinet Painting in Pittsburgh
Kitchen cabinets endure more abuse than any painted surface – grease, moisture, constant contact, and aggressive cleaning all test durability. Preparation determines whether paint lasts two years or twenty. We remove doors and hardware, thoroughly clean surfaces, repair damage, and sand to create proper adhesion.
Primer selection matters – oak needs pore-filling primers, stained wood requires stain-blocking, and laminate needs bonding primers. We spray components in controlled environments with multiple thin coats, sanding between applications. For high gloss finishes, we use Fine Paints of Europe for superior durability that resists scratching despite daily contact.
Bathroom Cabinet Painting in Pittsburgh
Bathroom vanities face constant moisture, humidity, and water exposure that demands specialized products. Steam, water splashing, and humidity cause failures when wrong products are used. We assess ventilation, identify moisture damage, and select primers and paints formulated for high-humidity conditions.
Preparation includes thorough sealing of joints to prevent water intrusion and moisture-resistant primers. Bathroom vanities benefit from semi-gloss or high gloss finishes that resist moisture and clean easily without water spots. Smaller vanities offer opportunity for bolder colors – high gloss navy or black creates dramatic impact.
What to Expect: Our Cabinet Finishing Process
Cabinet refinishing is a controlled finishing process designed to produce durable, furniture-grade results. Each project begins with careful deconstruction of doors, drawers, and hardware, with every component labeled and organized to ensure precise reinstallation.
Surfaces are then thoroughly cleaned and sanded to remove oils, residue, and previous finish inconsistencies. Proper surface preparation is essential for coating adhesion and long-term durability.
Adjacent areas are masked and protected before finishing begins. Doors and drawer fronts are typically finished in a controlled environment to reduce dust and allow for more precise application.
Professional cabinet coatings are applied in multiple thin layers to build a smooth, durable finish that withstands everyday kitchen use.
Once the finish has properly cured, cabinetry is reassembled and inspected to ensure alignment, consistency, and overall finish quality.
Owner of House Hues
A residential painting studio built on craft, not shortcuts
Meet The Founder
Behind House HUES
I started House Hues in 2019 with a clear intention: to approach painting differently. Too often, residential painting is treated as a race; rushed schedules, cut corners, and little respect for the homes people live in. That has never been how I work.
My background is in restoration work, where details aren’t optional and shortcuts don’t survive. Working on older homes teaches you quickly that quality can’t be faked. Finishes must be matched thoughtfully, materials must be chosen correctly, and preparation determines whether the work lasts years or decades. That foundation shaped how I approach every project today.
At House Hues, we specialize in interior and cabinet painting for residential homes throughout the Pittsburgh region. Whether it’s a high-gloss finish, a VeroMetal application, or a straightforward interior repaint, the goal is always the same: apply the right process, the right materials, and the right level of care. As if it were my own home.
The business has grown through word of mouth and repeat clients, not volume or shortcuts. I’m not interested in being the largest painting company in Pittsburgh. I’m focused on doing work I’m proud of.
-Creating spaces people love to live in, not just live with-
